My Dreams' Dream

My Find 4U: 'Sometimes on the way to the DREAM we get lost and find a better one.'.... I absolutely love this little Gem as it is SO ME! All I ever wanted since 4ever was to have my own CD of my own songs and now my Dreams Dream is to have one of my songs played at the CCMA, CMA, Juno's, Grammy's... (while I am walking up to the stage to collect my award LOL) Really though, now that I have that CD, it is ALL about getting the video (pretty tough to get a song out there these days without a video and if have a referral or would like to jump on the train yourself- YAY - bring it on!!).   

My Dreams Dream has now evolved into watching my video while polishing my CCMA when I am 99 - not just to listen to my own CD. Isn't life just grande! The law of attraction (or whatever you prefer to call it) ROCKS MY WORLD! Thanx bunches MammaDee for posting this pic last night - I quite like what my brain did with it with regards to the 'Dreams Dream' - likely a song to pop out in the very near future! 

This is what I came up with this morning:

I thought I knew what I wanted

This great big DREAM of mine

To listen to my very own CD

In my chair when I'm ninety-nine

So I went through all my songs

And then I build a great band

Now I'm rockin' on my own stage

And even making FANS!

Dreams and Fears

'Miracles start to happen when you give as much energy to your dreams as you do to your fears.'... I think that everyone has a struggle with these words at some point in life. It is very difficult to hang on to these words in time of complete fear isn't it? I do believe almost impossible really! I try so hard to ensure that I don't lose focus of my dreams by way of the village going off in my head that feeds the lurking fears. I am winning so far, how about you? Are you going for your dream? Are you looking to place that check-mark on your Bucket List? It is so hard to divert energy from fears to the dream, but I can say with all my heart: it is NOT impossible, merely challenging AND so rewarding when achieved.

The Glory of Rising, Falling and LOVE!

My Find 4U: 'Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.' ... This is SO me today: risen, rejuvenated & READY: BRING IT ON! Uh-Huh gotz-da 'TUDE 2DAY fer sure! lol

 

I love LOVE and understand in myself that it is a core that sits beside air and water! I think that may be why so many of my songs are about love (or lack or want or just pissed! lol).     I could play for days just singing my love songs but it would not be a pretty audience by the end of it all! he he he I have been focusing on writing upbeat songs and after the CCMA/Country Music Week Trip in Sasktoon last weekend; a doozer is milling about. Risen and rejuvenated - yes on so many levels for me today!! 

This whole music biz dream thang is so much more than what I bargained for or imagined on so many levels; but one thing is for certain: my heart needs a hell of allot more love than it does oxygen and I am proud to say that! Does that make me weak? I was actually told that one time - my heart makes me weak... 

I say those with love in their hearts that allow it to flow as their compass AND foundation can conquer anything and definitely RISE no matter how far the fall. Take for example water eroding mountains one day at a time turning them into grains of sand - yep - now come on: Datza-freakin-powerful! Falling is indeed a not-so-pleasent by-product of love not right - but rising is indeed well...for me....IT: in the name of love!

Life is 10% what happens and 90% attitude - Stefy/Stevie U Rock! (NMMM)

'Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you you react' AND CONGRATULATIONS STEFANIE!! I am SO PROUD of your courage, epiphany and tenacity - YOU did IT, you went for what you want and now you start that road - atta GO!

Everyone Stefanie MacMillan is a boxcar on the Netty Mac Train and we refer to her as STEVIE....Stevie is now the proud owner of a University Student ID card. She jumped on board because she believes in my music AND it is amazing as she truly knows my songs better than I do! When I change the words on stage for a plethora of reasons it doesn't matter where she is - she stops and stares at the stage with a 'what the heck are you doing' horrified look. It makes me giggle every time.

Stevie is the Merchandising/Gear Manager on the Netty Mac Train and for anyone who has ever come to a show - I know you have met Stevie! Well, her passion for the train has led her to want to pursue public relations even further and as a result she is now starting her first year to obtaining a Bachelor of Public Relations. I am so darn proud of the obstacles Stevie has overcome and so very proud to be a part of Stevie's dreams and so very honored that she is on the Netty Mac Train AND as a result of the train rails - found her calling in life. 

ISN'T LIFE JUST FREAKIN HUGE SOMETIMES?!?! I am proud of you Stefy/Stevie - so very proud .... NOW go get Honors and bring that Degree home to the Train okay? The sky is the limit for you my friend. You were what Charles Swindoll was talking about in his quote - it is one my top 2 favorite quotes of all time and you are an attestation of attitude change that affected what what was happening in your life that inevitably altered your future and placed you on this amazing road today. Again, I am so very proud of you Stevie! xo

Everybody is a Genius. (NMMM)

I try to take a step back and understand that we all have our own unique qualities and that everyone has their own calling in life. Even though it may not always be blatant to the ignorant eye exactly what that quality is, it IS always there. This truly does help when faced with adversity and a personality that just makes no sense to me; especially when the situation is leaning towards the negative side.  At the end of the day, we all do have our own thang that drives us and sometimes it takes a great deal of patience and understanding to not judge that the fish you are dealing with that can't climb that tree!

Closed Minds - My Find 4U NMMM

My Find 4U (from Netty Mac Music Mania in Facebook: Click 2go2 original blog in Facebook: Netty Mac Music Mania: 'If only closed minds came with closed mouths." It rarely works out that way though right? A closed mind, in my mind LOL; tends to have a very loud voice with little to no apprehension to use inside voice. This is right up there with the reality that insecurities stem from judgements and when we stop judging others we find that we then stop judging ourselves.

So why do I bring in an insecurity/judgement quote in addition you ask? I think that spewing close-minded crap is a mirror to the judgements behind the words not spoken in the open INSECURE mind!!! And then that leads me to the oxymoron of today's find : we judge others for judging because judging is WRONG!!. I am crackin' me up here - got up way too early this morning I guess!

Its-a YaY-DaY with another Netty Mac FIRST!! Our song 'To Feel The Feel' goes into rotation on Women of Substance Radio on July 1st! This is another Netty Mac First and I can't even begin to tell you how freakin amazing this ride is for me. I am working on the DMDS submission right now and what is that you say? Well the game has changed in Canada - I upload my entire CD and then YOU merely request a song from the Radio Station and they go grab it! What a relief and also what a complete and utter savings of time and CD's!! I was prepared to mail CD's with press packs to all of the radio stations from the data base I have been building by watching my peers and researching over the last 3 years - NOW I merely need to send a press release! HUGE NEWZ!! I have been nominated by another music association! This is so incredible!! Being nominated  by the ACMA's (Alberta Association for Country Music) for Female Artist of the Year and Fan Choice of the Year was such an honor AND to make top 4 in Female Artist was mind-blowing!! 

And now - the international ICMA's (Independent Country Music Association) have nominated me for Best Female Artist of the Year as well as Country Vocal Event of the Year for my song collaboration with The Fates on 'Please Help Me'. This is just so unbelievably sauCesome!!! whooHoooo!!!!

The Independent Country Music Association Awards ceremony will be held in June.  The first stage of the winner selection is a Fan Vote from April 1 to April 30.  Fans may vote every 24 hours for many categories!  Then in May the nominees are presented to a panel of Judges for final decision.  This is so exciting for me as I am releasing my Album next month and it would be amazing marketing!! ACMA Award Show - January 29, 2011

Netty Mac Milestone - Association of Country Music of Alberta nominations for Female Artist of the Year and Fan Choice of the Year, 2011. What an honor to make it to the top 4 in the Female Artist Category! I am blown away by the talent in Alberta and am proud to be a part of the community and camaraderie of the ACMA!!

The ACMA Awards were a HUGE success last night. It is extremely impressive to me in consideration that this was the 1st Annual Awards show; you would not have thought it was the first go-round if you were in attendance. From the ambiance of the room to the table placements (I came home with a very kewl ornamental cowboy hat with ACMA on it) to the fantastic catering to the stage sound & lighting to the inspiring and educational speeches from guest speakers.

I do understand that the success of the evening took many volunteers and a visionary Board of Directors, however my hat goes off to Marcie Schultz-Hanson. Marcie was (in my humble opinion) the pillar of the evenings' success and I can tell you that this sentiment came up often in my conversations with many. Her commitment to the event and focus on details (both big and small) and managing Artist inquires, signing up members, taking table seating requests.....the list goes on and on. Marcie, you ROCKED!! On behalf of myself and the many Artists I spoke to last night, thank you so much for your efforts, thank you to the volunteers and to the tireless efforts of the Board Members to provide a first class awards show; we sincerely appreciate your making the evening a GALA that I (and I am confidant all of the Association Members in attendance)  all walked away from with pride to be a member.

So  here are my highlights of my evening....

The wonderland Mr. Shane Chisholm won ACMA Male Artist of the Year. I remember the first time I heard Shane sing at the Ranchmans a few years ago- I was completely blown away. His voice is unlike no other and he has a stage presence that captivates and draws you in like a winning lottery ticket! Seriously!! If you have not yet experienced one of Shane's shows, I highly recommend it. Shane also has CCMA Noms to his credit. I think that one of the kewlest things about Shane is that he converted a gas tank to a Bass! Smokin' Bass player to boot!! Check it out for yourself:

ACMA Group or Duo of the Year went to The Traveling Mabels. Talk about a boat-load of talent right there folks!! These girlz are not only extremely gifted, but are also genuine free-spirited gals that are FUN-NEEE! I have had the privilege of watching 2 of their shows and neither was any like the other! Comedic, moving and powerful lyrics with harmonies that knock your sox off!! Eva, Lana and Suzanne are a trio that is a must see!! Check out their website bio's, it definitely speaks to the infinite talent you will witness at one of their shows!! I found this video of the girls. It speaks to everything I just said in a nutshell - a song about a dog! Really? lol Love Button required here!!!

The Traveling Mabels 2011 ACMA Awards

ACMA Female Artist of the Year went to Tenille. I had never heard of Tenille before however I can guarantee you we see much of her in the country music headlines! I don't mind losing to this gal one bit! She performed at the show and I'll tell you, her captivating expression in her guitar playing and ability to incorporate the dynamics between her lyrics and guitar to suck you right in to FEEL her message blew me away! What an amazing Artist, I am proud to get to be in the same category as Tenille and look forward to watching one of her shows in the near future. Here is her video and it just happens to be the song she played last night. LOVE LOVE the line 'pictures on a crooked wall'.  When I first heard the lyrics last night all I thought of was 'brilliant!!!...now why the heck didn't I think of that!" LOL LOL

ACMA Fan Choice of the Year went to Myrol. This group is a mother and daughter duo, Joanne and Haley Myrol. I am certain we will be hearing a great deal about this duo - I like their classic style.  Thank you so very much to our Hosts for the evening - CCMA Group of the Year Award Winners  Hey Romeo.  They did an excellent job as our MC's for the evening and put on a killer performance to close the awards. I especially enjoyed Darren's sense of humor and found that he had me laughing from the tummy quite often. They are a blast to watch perform, I can definitely see why the CCMA - they are a very engaging group.  This is one of the songs they played for us:

VERY HUGE congratulations to Harris Dvorkin - for the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award!! Harris is the owner of the Ranchmas Cookhouse and Dancehall. The passion and dedication of Mr. Dvorkin has facilitated his club with bragging rights of being the most successful and longstanding Country club in Canada. His commitment to Country Music and support of live music has spanned decades. I really enjoyed his stories of the good old days. In particular the part where Calgary used to have a law where cowboy hats were not allowed where liquor was sold and if so, the liquor license could be revoked. Really?  I would love to sit down with Mr. Dvorkin and a nice aged bottle of single malt for a few hrs and just listen to all of his stories!!

A special thank you to KixxSin for hosting the After-Party Jam. I LOVE these guyz!!! I have never seen their show but can guarantee I WILL as soon as possible. You gotta love a Band whose motto is when the Band KixxSin the Party Kixx Ass. Really? I am so down with their bold realism.  You get what you see and I gravitate to that energy!! They played a song and I have to tell you; even today I just can't get the lic out my head: "We're from Al-Freacken-Berta!" Wow, it is one heck of a hook. The way they sing it though is what makes the hook.  I truly can't get the darn song out of  my head. Unfortunately I couldn't find it, so here is one of the other songs they played :

My highlight of the evening was Mr. R. Harland Smith. He is the founder of Royalty Records and he is blessed with a music career/history spanning over 4 decades. Harland gave a speech that stopped the house! He was awe inspiring and challenged me (okay all of us, but I truly felt as though he was talking just to me!) to "tell my heart to tell my voice to sing what I feel" and to "tell my heart to tell my fingers to play the notes I feel"....  His message was to be true to your art and be yourself! Fantastic message in a day an age where labels predominately require a change in one form or another to make the Artist a 'marketable commodity'.  Harland's words were so refreshing for me. His words cut right into my core and I am so honored to get to have experienced his speech! 

 

He also did something that I have never seen before on a Awards Show and that was pick up a guitar and play right there at the podium! Sweet! He played George Jones' song 'Whose Gonna Fill Their Shoes'. Harland's' message was also an attestation to Georges' song in that everyone in that room was a representative of the future of country music - WE were filling their shoes! This hit me hard as I did not look at my career as 'filling' shoes.  I truly do hope that they release the recording of his speech (they did have video cameras going - so all hope may not be lost). I would  listen to Harland's speech last night any time the music business knocks me sideways (and unfortunately it does indeed happen). My expression to describe the music industry (and song that I wrote) is that it is a dog-eat-dog world and we all have milk-bone underwear! For those of you that do not experience the other side of the stage - this expression is an understatement! lol I am not being pessimistic, nor negative. You have heard my music therefore you know: I am real and call a spade a spade, I shoot from the hip like John Wayne and rarely add flowers or sugar-coating..... the music industry IS a whole world of its own (AND I love it!).... Harland, you truly inspired me! You moved me in a way that no mentor, research, hands on experience, learning tool, article, video,  or how-to has ever moved me when it comes to my music and/or career. You truly touched my life with your amazing speech. Thank you so very much. YOU ROCKED MY WORLD!

It was a HUGE evening for me and I have far too many take-aways to mention as this blog is ALREADY a book! (and oops - however it was unavoidable.) If you got this far in reading, thank you so much!! Thank you to the fans for all of your support and messages, you all made me a winner before I even hit Red Deer! (for those of you outside of Canada, this is not an animal - this is the name of the City where the Awards were held! lol lol)

You all make me feel like an award winner and I am perpetually blown away by your emails. I do always look forward to hearing from you and please take the time to contact the Award winners and listen to their music. Kudo's to you for supporting live music and INDIE music - we all just don't start our careers with a Record label - it is folks like YOU that keep the Netty Mac Train chuggin!!!
