ALANIS MORISSETTE - Jagged Little Pill

Today in 1995 Alanis Morissette released 'Jagged Little Pill'. This album was a historical milestone for Canadian music history as it sold over 30 million copies world-wide. Alanis Morissette was the first Canadian Woman to attain a US No. 1 album.  The album spent 12 non-consecutive weeks on the US Billboard  200 Albums Chart and was also ranked by this chart as the number one selling album of the 1990's.  Atta go Alanis! Did you know that there are several versions of this CD and many have 2 hidden tracks? If you have this Album, you may want to plug your CD. In particular, one of these hidden tracks is an A Capella version of 'Your House" - KILLER TUNE!!!!

  3. "Ironic"
    Released: February 27, 1996
  4. "You Learn"
    Released: July 9, 1996
  5. "Head over Feet"
    Released: September 16, 1996
  6. "All I Really Want"
    Released: December 1995
Okay, so yes I usually pick my fave song on the Album, but I really can't here! Seriously! I truly to enjoy all of the singles form the Albums! So I will narrow it down to 2 then. Ironic KiX A$$! (Pun intended on the spelling too! lol lol) I love her expression relating to "it's a Free Ride...it figures" then "10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife":

The next favorite of the favorites would be 'Hand in My Pocket' Especially love the line "I'm sick but I'm Pretty". "What it all comes down to my friends it that Everything is just fine-fine-fine" - No kidding hey? Really, we could use a little Alanis on the airwaves in the millennium don't you think? She reminds me of Melissa Etheridge with her courage to yell out what she thinks and feels but in such a poetic way as to put chapters of information in merely a couple of sentences! I would love to be just like them when I grow up!!!!

Another thing that I dig about Alanis is that she is not only an excellent vocalist and songwriter, but she is very talented on the harmonica.  I have been meaning to take up the Harmonica, maybe after I get my album out there....

This Video is EXCELLENT in telling the story of the the 10-year anniversary of the 'Jagged Little Pill" Album where Alanis went back into the studio to record an acoustic version.

There are so may songs off of this Album that should go in this Blog - but it would be a book then and who has time for that?! This is one of my fave songs on the Album, called 'Perfect'.  This song didn't necessarily hit the mainstream, but I find it amazing; especially knowing that it took a whopping 20 minutes to write and compose from beginning to end! I have several of those songs and can say that it is those that just fall off of the pen like that that end up being the best for getting right inside you!
